Do you know why no rituals or religious ceremonies seem to be successful nowadays? We have explained the three main reasons below.

Why Many Rituals Fail Today — 3 Common Reasons & How to Fix Them
There can be many reasons why rituals or religious ceremonies fail to be successful nowadays. We have listed three main reasons below:
- Not following the prescribed rules and discipline of the scriptures
- Impurity or contamination of the ritual materials
- The absence of a pure, qualified Brahmin, or having too few of them
Not Following the Discipline of the Scriptures
We do not follow the discipline and boundaries prescribed by the scriptures because we consider ourselves “modern.” According to the scriptures, a task should be performed by the person who is meant to perform it. There is a well-known saying: “The one whose duty it is should do the work; if someone else does it, punishment follows.” If a ritual or religious ceremony is said to be properly accomplished through a Brahmin, then it should be performed by a Brahmin alone.
A person from another community cannot understand a task as deeply as someone who has traditionally been associated with that work. For example, a farmer’s son will know far more about farming than a merchant’s son. Similarly, a trader is generally more successful in business than others. You can also clearly observe differences in nature and temperament between a trader and a warrior. Such examples can be seen in your own region or by observing some of the wealthiest individuals in India.
Absence or Shortage of a Pure Brahmin
By a pure Brahmin, we mean one whose sacred thread ceremony (Yajnopavita) was performed at the proper time, who has practiced Sandhya rituals since childhood, and who strictly follows all the rules prescribed in the scriptures. When such a Brahmin performs any worship or ritual according to the complete and correct method, without mistakes, the ritual or ceremony certainly yields the results exactly as described in the scriptures.
Contamination or Impurity of Ritual Materials
Today, we often do not know whether the items we use in worship are truly pure or not. Pure ghee, roli, kumkum, gorochan, red sandalwood, and other sacred ritual materials are no longer easily available to us. In present times, obtaining all the materials required for a completely pure ritual has become extremely difficult.
Because of all these reasons, it has become extremely difficult for any ritual or religious ceremony to be fully successful nowadays. However, the truth is that we do receive some results, though limited. The deities grant these small blessings solely out of compassion for our faith and devotion.
